KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sibusiso Ndebele has re-iterated that public servants
found guilty of any form of fraud and corruption will face the full might of
the law.
The Premier's comments come after an internal forensic audit in the
KwaZulu-Natal Office of the Premier, initiated by Premier Ndebele a few months
ago, has established, amongst other things, that a service provider working in
cahoots with employees in the Premier's Office made an illegal and unauthorised
payment to the service provider.
"The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government is firmly committed to act harshly
against all forms of corruption. Therefore, any public servant or member of the
public who is found guilty of any form of fraud and corruption will face the
full might of the law," said the Premier.
Premier Ndebele has also called on members of the public and employees in
his Office who may have any information which will assist in these
investigations to contact the South African Police Service (SAPS).
"Together we can defeat fraud and corruption, and ensure that much-needed
service delivery reaches the citizens of our province," said the Premier.
Joint investigations by the KwaZulu-Natal Office of the Premier and the SAPS
are continuing and arrests are expected soon.
