S Mnumzana on condolences to Free State rugby players

Message of condolences

25 July 2007

The MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture in the Free State, Susan Kedisaletse
Mnumzana, on behalf of the Department and the Free State Provincial Government
would like to express her deepest condolences to the families, friends and
colleagues of Nardus Wessels and Ashley Mapisa. Death has indeed robbed us of
two young up and coming rugby players whose lives were tragically cut short by
a freak accident.

As the department and the provincial government we are indeed in mourning
with the entire rugby fraternity over the untimely death of these young and
promising talents. May their departed soul rest in peace.

Our prayers also go to Cedric Mkhize who was reportedly left paralysed by
this accident. May he, despite his condition, recover from the trauma of this
accident. The same prayers go to Andries Kruger, Kurt-Lee van Vuuren and
Sandile India who sustained injuries during the accident.

It is the hope of the department and the provincial government that the
spirit and courage of these young players will inspire every aspiring young
person to take up the gauntlet and march on in the arena of sport, particularly
rugby.
