The MEC for Health, Sakhiwo Belot, will deliver the keynote address at the
HIV partnership event scheduled as follows:

Background
President Thabo Mbeki, who was then the Deputy President, launched the
Partnership Against AIDS (PAA) on 9 October 1998.
All South Africans will be commemorating Partnership Against AIDS on 9
October 2007.
The aim of this commemoration is to strengthen and reinforce the importance
of partnerships in the fight against HIV and AIDS.
The Theme for Partnership Against AIDS 2007 is 'Stop HIV and AIDS - Keep the
Promise.' The theme seeks to strengthen leadership, commitment and
accountability in response to the spread of HIV and the impact of AIDS.
The theme reminds all partners to keep the promise and pledges made in the
past thirteen years of South African democracy.
