As part of ensuring that the provision of the Constitution of South Africa,
in particular the right of every citizen to be afforded clean and healthy
environment are complied with, the Deputy Minister, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi,
will visit Cato Ridge Works (Assmang plant) in KwaZulu Natal on 18 May
2007.
The Cato Ridge Works management will brief the Deputy Minister on the air
quality management plan/strategy relating to combating excessive emissions,
waste management and water related issues.
In line with government goal to empower disadvantaged communities, the
Deputy Minister will request the company's plan on social responsibility
projects and transformation on employment equity, especially the inclusion of
women in management positions.
Members of the media are invited to be part of the proceedings and also to
interview the Deputy Minister.
