The Department of Provincial and Local Government (the dplg), in partnership
with the Business Trust, will host a National Indaba on Shared Economic Growth
Partnership for the Presidential Nodes. The objective of the Indaba is to
publicly popularise the findings of the Nodal Economic Profiling project and to
commit to a partnership framework between public and private sector towards
immediate action in advancing nodal economies.
The Programme of Action developed, intends to introduce an economic
development dimension to the Integrated Sustainable Rural Development Programme
(isrdp) and the Urban Renewal Programme (URP). This exercise will further raise
awareness on potential economic development in the nodes, educate the public on
how economic profiles will assist in achieving the goal of having poverty and
unemployment in the affected 21 nodal areas and to build partnership with civil
society organisations, including the public and private sector to ensure full
participation in the development of local economies in the nodes.
