The South African Police Service (SAPS) would like to indicate that the
reports flighted on South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) news bulletin
last night, 27 January 2009, to the effect that Commissioner Mphego is
suspended, are false.
We would like to categorically indicate that Commissioner Mphego is not
suspended, and is on duty.
If and when it becomes necessary for disciplinary actions to be taken
against any member of the South African Police Service, it can only be
instituted in terms of the SAPS disciplinary procedure regulations.
