Parliament to hold first National Assembly and National Council of
Provinces sitting, 6 and 7 May

Press accreditation to attend first sitting of the National
Assembly (NA) and first sitting of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP),
fourth Parliament

On Wednesday, 6 May, the fourth democratic Parliament's National Assembly
(NA) will hold its first sitting. This is when Members of Parliament (MPs) to
the NA are to be sworn in, the NA's Speaker and Deputy Speaker are elected and
when the President of the Republic of South Africa is elected.

On Thursday, 7 May, Parliament's National Council of Provinces (NCOP) holds
its first sitting where delegates from provinces will be sworn in and the NCOP
Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson elected.

All journalists and photographers wishing to cover these events from the
National Assembly Chamber, the National Council of Provinces Chamber or wishing
to broadcast from the Parliamentary precinct are required to send their details

Details required are:
Full names, Identity Document (ID)/passport number, name of media organisation
and media group, designation (writer, photographer, for example), e-mail
address, telephone number and cell phone number.

Press wishing to broadcast from the Parliamentary precinct should also
provide:
Make of vehicle(s), registration number(s), number(s) of vehicles, clearance
certificates from service providers for temporary structures (tents, etc) they
wish to erect, other equipment and time of arrival.
