North West Transport, Roads and Community Safety MEC Phenye Vilakazi, again
urged motorists to drive responsibly to avoid road accidents. He was reacting
after an accident in which a father and his infant daughter were killed
today.
The two were killed when two vehicles, a private car in which they were
travelling, and a lorry collided head on, on the N4 highway between Brits and
Rustenburg in the North West. The driver of the lorry was slightly injured.
It appears the deceased driver attempted to overtake another car, when he
collided head on with an oncoming van. The driver and her infant daughter died
on the scene and the other driver was slightly injured and taken to the nearby
hospital.
He was treated and later discharged. Identities of the deceased cannot be
released at this stage.
