Winelands infrastructure projects

Pierre Uys, Minister for Local Government, Environmental Affairs and
Development Planning, invites all media to a briefing tomorrow (Friday, 20
March 2009) around the mountain water treatment works infrastructure to
commence in April 2009 in Paarl and other projects in the Cape Winelands
area.
A ceremonial launch groundbreaking will take place at the site of the new
water treatment works, allowing for photographic opportunities.
Minister has approved the registration of the project amounting to R37,4
million in the area as part of the municipal infrastructure grant investment
which will benefit more than 25 000 households.
The municipal infrastructure grant is a conditional grant that supports
municipalities with their capital budgets and their Integrated Development
Plans (IDP) to fund infrastructure, primarily benefiting poor households.

Directions:
From the N1, pass the first off ramp to Paarl and take the Cecilia Street
off ramp, at the junction the road crosses over to the mall turn right here, at
the circle go half way round. Continue on this road at the T-junction (Burg
River South Road) turn left. Continue along this road at the robots turn left
into the main road, then take the first road right into Jan Phillip Mountain
Road. Follow this gravel road around the mountain. Drive until you pass to the
picnic site, just after the picnic site and a small building is the area where
the event will be held.
