Acting President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka will tomorrow, 24 May 2007, be
shadowed by five girl children as she participates in the Take a Girl Child to
Work Day event.
The aim of the initiative is to provide girl children with real life
platforms to deepen their thinking and aspirations about their roles in society
and which careers they may want to follow post matric.
This year, Moipone Molotlhanyi, Ntombizodwa Seloko both from Orange Farm,
Nothemba Mashope from Kimberly, Zanele Mokoena from Evaton and Grace Dibatane
from Roodepoort will spend the day with the Acting President.
The day will include a breakfast and lunch with the Acting President,
introduction to Cabinet members, engaging with senior female staff in the
Presidency, a visit to a Hospice in Gugulethu.
Cabinet ministers will also be accompanied by their girl child they who they
will be hosting for the day.
The programme will culminate in the girls accompanying the Acting President
to the 2006/07 WesBank Proudly South African Home-grown Awards ceremony in
Johannesburg, where she will deliver a keynote address.
