Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka's address at the
official opening of the University of South Africa's (Unisa's) academic
year

31 January 2007

Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka will tomorrow, Thursday, 1 February
2007, attend as guest of honour the official opening of the University of South
Africa's academic year.

She has been invited to be the guest speaker at this august event at which
Unisa traditionally invites a high level speaker to address matters of national
importance challenging the academic community in the new South Africa.

Given that the Deputy President leads South Africa's initiative aimed at the
Accelerated and Shared Growth Initiative for South Africa (AsgiSA) and the
university has expressed keen interest in concretising its AsgiSA commitments,
amongst other matters, she is expected to speak on this issue.

Members of the media are invited to participate.
