Smelter in Limpopo province

Deputy President Mlambo-Ngcuka will deliver an address at the opening of the
Xstrata Smelter at Steelpoort Valley, Limpopo, on Thursday, 1 March 2007.
This is a 3-phase expansion development in Limpopo province, with a
production capacity of 360 000 tons of ferrochrome per annum. The Smelter has
made a substantial investment in skills development, especially in and around
the Steelpoort Valley area. Skills provided include various forms of technical,
artisan and engineering skills, which local residents can use to secure
employment.
