Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka will later today, Monday, 21 May
2007, deliver the keynote address at the conference on construction materials
at Gallagher Estate, Midrand.
The conference is jointly hosted with the Business Trust's infrastructure
project SPAID and aims to inform stakeholders about potential increases in
demand for specific materials, so that they can gear up production if
necessary, and begin to identify ways to address bottlenecks where they are
anticipated.
It I has been recognised that the massive increase in public investment
under the Accelerated and Shared Growth Initiative for South Africa (AsgiSA),
would significantly increase the demand for construction inputs such as
materials, capital and skills.
