The Minister of Arts and Culture, Dr Z Pallo Jordan invites media to a
series of events to honour Sarah Bartmann. The events, which are part of the
International Women's Day, include an academic colloquium, a launch of the
Sarah Bartmann Centre of Remembrance architectural competition and a cultural
evening. The Department has partnered the Western and Eastern Cape provinces,
the University of Western Cape, Kouga Municipality, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan
University and the Khoi-San Agency to ensure that the planned activities are as
inclusive and productive as possible. Details of the planned activities are as
follows:
1. Colloquium

2. Launch of the architectural competition brief
Date: 7 March 2009
The programme will start with a Khoisan ritual ceremony at the Sarah Bartmann
gravesite, Hankey at 09h00.
The official programme will start at 10h00 at the rugby Stadium, Hankey,
Eastern Cape.
