North West Social Development to host Casual Day event, 7 Sept

North West to fulfil their mandate on disabled

The North West (NW) Department of Social Development is mandated to protect
as well as to cater for the needs of disabled people within the province.

As such and as part of the commemoration of casual day, the Department will
be acquiring 2 500 casual day stickers. Out of the R10 per sticker a retainer
of R4 will be distributed by the Department to various disability centres or
organisations within the Moretele area. The remaining R6 will benefit the
following organisations:

* National Council for persons with physical disabilities in SA
* SA federation for Mental Health
* Deaf Federation of SA
* Epilepsy SA
* Department of Public Service and Administration
* SA National Council for the Blind.

In her budget speech the MEC for Social Development Mme Nikiwe Mangqo
committed that her Departmental programmes for the 2007/08 financial year will
be geared towards advocacy and creating awareness in a view to support
community initiatives and strengthening partnerships with relevant community
and local structures. Following this commitment the Department will host a
casual day commemoration event to show support to the needs of disabled people
within the province.
