Municipalities in the North West are to receive feedback on their financial
performance and compliance with audit requirements for the 2007/08 financial
year at the municipal audit outcomes presentation session by the Auditor
General to be held at the Embassy Hall in Mafikeng on Monday, 23 March
2009.
The objective of the annual session hosted by the Department of
Developmental Local Government and Housing in partnership with the Department
of Finance and North West South African Local Government Association (Salga) is
to share insight on the audit outcomes to enhance good governance.
The MEC for Developmental Local Government and Housing, Howard Yawa and the
MEC for Finance, Maureen Modiselle, Executive Mayors, Mayors, Officials from
their departments, Municipal Managers and Chief Financial Officers from all
municipalities in the province are expected to attend the session.
Meanwhile, the two days Provincial Salga Budget Week that ended last Friday
at Moses Kotane Local Municipality resolved to establish a forum to deal with
lack of capacity and financial challenges facing municipalities in the province
in the context of the current global economic meltdown.
