areas in Mafikeng

The Portfolio Committee of Developmental Local Government and Housing led by
the Chairperson, Honourable Mahlakeng Mahlakeng, will be conducting an
oversight visit to Mafikeng Local Municipality on Thursday, 7 June 2007 from
09h00. The aim of this oversight visit is to visit the areas within Mafikeng
Local Municipality which were affected by the recent unrest, riots and violence
which took place.
The areas to be visited by the Portfolio Committee are Lonely Park, Signal
Hill and Rooigrond amongst others. The committee will meet with community
leaders and assess the state of the areas affected by violence. The committee
will also visit the Public Works Modimolla Project as well as the Motsolaare
School where the progress of a project undertaken by Parliamentary Portfolio
Committee (PPC) to upgrade eight classrooms will be evaluated.
