In support of the '16 days of no violence of no violence against women and
children' campaign which starts on 25 November to 10 December 2007, the North
West Department of Developmental Local Government and Housing, will build 32
low-cost houses to disadvantaged families in all the four districts in the
province.
The houses have been allocated as follows:
* Bojanala district municipality (10 houses)
* Ngaka Modiri Molema district municipality (10 houses)
* Bophirima district municipality (four houses)
* Southern district municipality (eight houses)
Dignitaries that are expected to attend the sod turning ceremony to mark the
start of the campaign on 25 November 2007, in Maboloka (which falls within the
Madibeng local municipality), include, Premier Edna Molewa, MEC for
Developmental Local Government and Housing, Howard Yawa, other MECs, Mayors and
Executive Mayors, councillors and members of the public. This ceremony will
form part of the main event of the day. The houses will be handed over to the
beneficiaries at the end of the campaign on 10 December 2007. Beneficiaries
include victims of all forms of abuse, disabled persons, and children heading
families as well as those affected by HIV/AIDS.
