Imbizo has been widely acknowledged as an effective forum for enhancing
dialogue and interaction between government and people. It provides an
opportunity for government to communicate its programme of action and the
progress being made. It promotes participation of the public in the programmes
to improve their lives.

The April Imbizo will focus on key programmes to improve service provision
by local government. Imbizo has underlined the critical role of local
government, working with the other spheres, in implementing programmes to
improve people's lives and eradicate poverty.

A special effort will be made to build community participation as crucial
for effective local government and improved service delivery. This will also
help the provincial government to give more focused attention to the challenges
faced by local government.
