The Minister of Education, Naledi Pandor will tomorrow, 3 March 2009, spend
almost the entire day visiting the University of the Western Cape (UWC).
The purpose of the Minister's visit is to check on the progress made in
building a new life sciences laboratory and other new developments within the
university, utilising the infrastructure grant from the Department of Education
(DoE).
Minister Pandor will have meetings with the rector and the university
executive, the staff and the student representative council (SRC) members.
She is also expected to attend the launch of the United Nations Programme on
AIDS (UNAIDS) fund.

the Rector
09h10: Meeting with Rector and the University Executive
10h00: Depart for the symbolic opening of the new entrance (East Link Road
opposite Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT). Cutting of ribbon and
photo opportunity
10h20: Visit to new Life Sciences building
(Please wear comfortable shoes and clothes, sandals not recommended)
11h20: Depart for the Senate building (opportunity to freshen-up if
required)
11h0: UNAIDS funding launch
11h45: Visit to 4 Science laboratories on the South Campus. Drive past the
new School of Public Health building.
12h30: Meeting with the SRC
13h00: Lunch
13h30: Minister departs
