The MEC for Health in KwaZulu-Natal, Ms Neliswa Nkonyeni, will address a
press conference where she will present the first report of the Independent
Tribunal on the dismissed nurses.
Following the dismissal of nurses who engaged on an illegal industrial
action the MEC together with trade unions instituted an independent tribunal to
allow nurses to state their cases before the tribunal. Initially the tribunal
was constituted of three legal experts but was later increased to nine legal
experts in order to ensure that the process is resolved as speedily as
possible.
The tribunal has produced its first report after sittings in Ngwelezane,
Edendale and Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospitals.
The media is invited to attend and report on the Conference.
