Mokonyane launches women's construction project

29 May 2007

Gauteng MEC for Housing Nomvula Mokonyane will launch another woman owned
construction project at Tinasonke Ext 3 in Ekurhuleni. This project will be a
home to 500 families who have been living at the Alberton station informal
settlement.

Last year the department allocated R200 million to woman owned construction
companies for a period of three years to build houses. This was meant to
address the imbalances in the male dominated construction industry.

Details of the launch are as follows:
Date: Tuesday, 29 May 2007
Time: 15h00
Venue: Tinasonke, Ekurhuleni

The launch will be preceded by a site visit to various women contractors'
projects in Mayfield, Edenpark and Tinasonke by Mokonyane and Executive Mayor
of Ekurhuleni Duma Nkosi between 10h00 and 14h00.
