N Jajula to host Social Service Imbizo, 28 to 31 May

Eastern Cape Department of Health to host Social Service
Imbizo

The MEC for Eastern Cape Department of Health, Mrs N Jajula will be hosting
a Social Service Imbizo at Cala Stadium from 28 to 31 May 2007. The theme will
be "Renewing our pledge; keeping people healthy".

The main purpose of the Imbizo is to bring health services closer to the
people and it is also a campaign of accelerating sustainable service delivery
in the local sphere of government. The services offered there will be based on
the needs of the people in that particular area.

The total population of the area is 68 876, with Askeaton servicing 3 562
wards, Beestekraai 2 891 wards, Sifondile 4 350 wards, Tembelihle 18 552 wards,
Tsengiwe 4 213 wards, Upper Lufuta 6 942 wards and Manzimahle servicing 2 679
wards.

This Imbizo will address health challenges in that area through a four-day
campaign where all health services together with other critical services will
be rendered.

Health professionals and officials like doctors, nurses, dentists,
pharmacists and administration of the department will participate in the Imbizo
by rendering fully-fledged services for a period of three days in the Cala
area.

The participants in the campaign will be Eastern Cape Department of Health
which will be rendering all health services, Eastern Cape Social Development
rendering grants, Home Affairs doing registration of birth certificates,
identity documents, etc, and the Eastern Cape House of Traditional Leaders
doing community mobilisation.
