It is once again that time of the year for the Eastern Cape Department of
Health to reward and recognise those individuals and institutions that have
excelled in achieving "better service delivery results" in their respective
lines of duties.
The Honourable MEC for Health, Mrs Nomsa Jajula and her management will be
hosting the annual Health Excellence Awards on Friday, 16 November 2007 at the
Vulindlela Village, Coega in Port Elizabeth where 500 guests are expected to
descend to the Nelson Mandela Metropole.
The main aim of the excellence awards is to recognise the efforts of those
healthcare providers who have gone beyond their call of duty to render
outstanding services to their communities with the intent to aid the department
in achieving the expected level of customer satisfaction.
The four award categories will each have a different criteria targeting both
individual performance and institutions. The highlight of the night will be the
long standing Cecilia Makiwane Award which is targeted at registered nurses,
enrolled nurses and enrolled nursing auxiliaries.
The Cecilia Makiwane award is an initiative by the National Government
through the Department of Health in collaboration with the provincial
counterparts and its assessment criteria is prescribed by the national
Department of Health.
