Minister Dlamini Zuma addresses Nordic-Africa consultations in
Norway

South African Foreign Minister Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma today Monday, 19
March, delivered a paper on Peace and Security Challenges in Africa behind
closed doors at the two-day Nordic-Africa Ministerial Consultative Forum being
held in Oslo, Norway.

Minister Dlamini Zuma, who arrived in Oslo on Monday, is currently leading a
South African delegation including Foreign Affairs Director-General Dr Ayanda
Ntsaluba and South Africa's ambassador to Norway, Ismail Coovadia, to the
two-day Nordic-Africa Ministerial Consultations scheduled for Monday and
Tuesday in Oslo.

The Nordic-Africa Consultative Forum is attended by Foreign Ministers of
South Africa, Benin, Botswana, Ghana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Mali, Senegal,
Nigeria, Zambia, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The Forum was
initiated by the late Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh to create an
environment in which Nordic and African countries can discuss matters of mutual
international interest. The Norwegian Forum is the fifth since its inception in
2000.

The Nordic-Africa Ministerial Consultations was officially opened on Monday
by Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jonas Gahr Store who outlined the
programme of the Ministerial meeting over the next two days which includes
discussions on:

* peace and security challenges in Africa
* climate change and the impact thereof
* United Nations issues
* global health and foreign policy.

The Ministerial Consultative Forum will on Tuesday wind its deliberations
with an address to the media on the outcome of the two-day discussions.
