South African Foreign Minister Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will on Thursday, 6
September 2007, hold bilateral political and economic discussions with her
counterpart from Costa Rica Foreign Minister Bruno Stagno Ugarte at the
Presidential Guesthouse in Pretoria.
Foreign Minister Stagno Ugarte will visit South Africa, as part of a
multi-legged African tour, from Wednesday to Thursday, 5 to 6 September 2007.
Upon conclusion of his visit to South Africa he will visit Lesotho, Namibia,
Botswana, Mozambique and Swaziland from 7 to 14 September 2007.
Minister Dlamini Zuma will host her Costa Rican counterpart within the
context of South Africa's priority to strengthen relations with countries of
Latin America with a view of consolidating the developmental agenda of the
South.
Ministers Dlamini Zuma and Stagno are expected to discuss, amongst
others:
* South Africa's possible support for Costa Rica's accession to the Latin
American non-permanent seat of the United Nations Security Council
* the status of bilateral political and economic relations between both
countries
* a review of political and socio-economic developments within their respective
regions
* a review of South Africa's first eight months as a non-permanent member of
the United Nations Security Council.
