Minister Dlamini Zuma to host the Board of Governors of the
IAEA in Cape Town, 20 March 2009

South African Foreign Minister, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will host a
delegation of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency
(IAEA) on Saturday to Sunday 21 to 22 March in Cape Town.

The IAEA Board of Governors delegation is scheduled to arrive in South
Africa later today, Friday 20 March at the Oliver Tambo International Airport
in Johannesburg before departing for Cape Town where they will be received by
Ambassador Abdul Minty.

Ambassador Minty is the only South African and African Union candidate for
the post of Director-General of the IAEA to replace the outgoing
Director-General Mohamed Al Baradei. In this regard, Ambassador Minty is
bidding against a Japanese candidate.

During their visit to South Africa, the delegation will visit Koeberg
Nuclear facility where they will receive a briefing on South Africa’s Nuclear
Programme from representatives of the Ministry of Minerals and Energy, Eskom as
well as the South African Nuclear Energy Corporation.

The delegation will also visit the Ithemba Laboratory for Accelerator Based
Sciences, Spier Wine Estates, the Durbanville Wine Estate as well as the World
Heritage Site, the former Robben Island prison. The delegation is expected to
depart from South Africa on Sunday 22 March 2009.
