South African Foreign Affairs Minister and Chairwoman of the Southern
African Development Community (SADC) Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will tomorrow
[Wednesday] lead a South African delegation to Harare for the scheduled
swearing in of Zimbabwe's Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Morgan
Tsvangirai and Arthur Mutambara respectively.
In addition SADC facilitator of the Zimbabwean deal, former president Thabo
Mbeki, will also visit Harare to witness the swearing in ceremony.
This follows the recent SADC facilitated global political agreement
facilitated by Mbeki in which the three main political parties in Zimbabwe
agreed to form an inclusive government. South Africa in its capacity as chair
of the SADC welcomed this development as a major step towards reconciliation
and development and economic recovery in Zimbabwe.
South Africa, like the rest of the countries in the region, stands ready to
assist the people of Zimbabwe as they embark on the difficult path of
reconstruction and development, economic recovery and national
reconciliation.
President Kgalema Motlanthe is expected to visit Harare on Friday to witness
the swearing in of the ministers.
