You are hereby cordially invited to attend the official launch of
Mpumalangaâs first construction contact centre, to be held on 10 March 2009.
The function starts at the Mpumalanga Construction Contact Centre (CCC) on the
corner of Samora Machel and Paul Kruger Streets in Nelspruit at 09h00 with a
ribbon cutting ceremony and VIP breakfast. The National Minister for Public
Works, Mr Geoff Doidge, and the MEC for Public Works, Mr Madala Masuku, are
expected to attend.
The main programme will be at the Mpumalanga parks board auditorium and will
start at 10h00, followed by a lunch. Construction Contact Centres are
facilities created by the CIDB in partnership with Departments of Public Works
at national and provincial level as hubs for industry wide initiatives on
contractor development and other construction services. There are currently six
Construction Contact Centres in Mayville, Durban in Kwazulu Natal, Cape Town in
the Western Cape, Bisho in the Eastern Cape, Bloemfontein in the Free State,
Polokwane in Limpopo and Tshwane at CIDB head office in Gauteng. Mpumalanga
province is delighted to add to the number with the provinceâs own CCC in
Nelspruit.
By receiving and, in the near future, processing applications for contractor
registration and upgrades the CCC is facilitating better contractor and
stakeholder access to CIDB services in the province. They also facilitate
improved communication between the CIDB, contractors and clients. For the first
time contractors will be able to track the status and progress of their
applications locally. Inevitably this will speed up the processing of
applications and contribute to an easier and much more user-friendly
registration process, and contribute towards support service that enhance
contractor growth and development.
Contractors in the province will no longer have to travel to Pretoria to
register with the CIDB, but can now register at the centre. The centre is
expected to draw a large number of unregistered contractors in the
province.
Exhibitors from the construction industry are also expected to showcase
their services at the launch.
