The Department of Minerals and Energy invite the media to witness the 9th
farewell function of ten, previously disadvantaged students who were awarded
scholarship to study in Malaysia with the University Teknologi Petronas.
These students will be studying towards Engineering and Information
Technology Information System to address and close the scarce skills gap
currently experienced by the country.
In total so far, 24 have already graduated, and are employed or self
employed. Eight more students will be graduating in August this year. Currently
there are 33 students
registered and ten of them are currently doing industrial training at PetroSA.
The 2007 intake will increase the number to 43 enrolled students. This brings
the total number of beneficiaries to 80.
