State v Zuma and another (Thales South Africa), 26 October 2021, Pietermaritzburg High Court


Members of the media are advised that the matter involving former President Jacob Zuma and the Thales Group, case number CCD30/2018, will resume at the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Tuesday, 26 October 2021.

In an attempt to prevent the spread of COVID-19, strict social distancing protocols will be observed in the courtroom. Members of the media and the public are requested to follow all security procedures as will be communicated by court officials in order to ensure the safety of all court users.

Access to the courtroom will be for accredited persons only. Please be advised that a very limited number of seats are allocated for accredited members of the media inside the courtroom. Members of the media are requested to submit their accreditation requests to Lusanda Ntuli (LNtuli@judiciary.org.za) and Zininzi Makgoale (ZMakgoale@judiciary.org.za), please cc lusanda02@gmail.com by 12h00 Friday, 22 October 2021. Requests received after this time will not be considered.

Requests for accreditation must include the individual’s name, name of the organisation/media house they represent, ID number / Passport number, designation, and contact details. Personal information will be processed in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (Act No. 4 of 2013).

It should be noted that not all applications will be approved. Outcomes of accreditation applications will be communicated via email. Accreditation cards will be available and distributed to approved applicants. This will be communicated via email once accreditation has been finalised

**Kindly make arrangements in writing should you be unable to collect accreditation during the allocated time.

Pool feed arrangements inside the courtroom
The eNCA has, through an application process to the court, been granted approval to broadcast the proceedings. Broadcast feed arrangements may be made by contacting Jody Jacobs on (+27) 82 777 0969 and at Jody.Jacobs@enca.com.

Members of the media and public are encouraged to follow proceedings remotely via the live broadcast which will be provided by the eNCA.

As with the video feed, there will be a pool system for photographers. The South African National Editors Forum (SANEF) and the Foreign Correspondents Association (FCA) are kindly requested to co-ordinate and submit names of photographers who will form a pool for, and provide pictures to the media.

Procedure to be aware
1. When entering the court, mandatory COVID-19 screening will be conducted. Please ensure that you have a face mask on at all times.
2. Your accreditation card will be your access to the courtroom. Access into the courtroom will not be granted without presenting it.
