The Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism Marthinus van Schalkwyk
had, on Friday, 21 September 2007, published in the government gazette,
(Gazette Notice no. 30310 of 21 September 2007), the proposed Regulation for
the prohibition of the use, manufacturing, import and export of asbestos and
asbestos containing materials for public comment in terms of Section 24B of the
Environmental Conservation Act, 1989 (Act No. 73 of 1989)
Interested persons are invited to submit written comments on the draft
regulations to the Minister by no later than 21 October 2007.
Comments must be submitted to the Director-General on the following
