Young people to discuss their role in accelerating health
service delivery

The Minister of Health Dr Manto Tshabalala-Msimang will officially open the
2nd National Youth Health Indaba in Kimberley on Monday, 25 June 2007. This
forms part of the country's planned June month activities to commemorate the
31st Anniversary of the Soweto and related students Uprisings of June 16. The
Theme for this year's youth development month is, "Deepening youth
participation in development through service" to encourage young people to
participate in the reconstruction and development of their communities.

An overview of the progress made on the implementation of the Declaration of
2006 National Youth Health will be made to kick-start discussions around the
challenges facing the youth including teenage pregnancy, unemployment, among
other things. The Indaba is expected to tackle the challenges and make
recommendations.
