M Tshabalala-Msimang to lead health walk, 5 Jul

Minister of Health walks the talk

The Minister of Health Dr M Tshabalala-Msimang and Z Mbeki will lead a
health walk by some 1 500 women who are attending the South African Women in
Dialogue Forum (SAWID) Conference at the University of Pretoria.

Initiated by Mbeki, SAWID provides a platform for women's participation on
issues of national, regional, continental and international importance. The
theme for this year�s SAWID conference is: "from dialogue to development: women
unite to eradicate poverty."

The Health Department's healthy lifestyles campaign speaks to the SAWID
theme. The campaign encourages poor people to start community gardens to
maintain a healthy disposition through good nutrition, regular physical
activity and regular screenings for early detention and treatment of
diseases.

The Department of Health will provide screening services for blood glucose,
cholesterol, blood pressure and body mass index on daily basis during the
conference, to promote healthy lifestyles for prevention and management of
diseases.

Venue: Groenkloof Campus, University of Pretoria

Directions: From Pretoria city, join R21 towards the airport, at the
Fountains circle after University of South Africa (Unisa) take left, at the
next robots take another left which leads to Groenkloof campus (behind Unisa
main buildings).
