The Minister in The Presidency Dr Manto Tshabalala-Msimang will officially
launch the national campaign for 50/50 Representation of Women in Politics and
Decision-making Positions, ahead of 2009 general elections.
This campaign has been endorsed by 300 organisations across the globe and 18
national and regional campaign launches have taken place. South Africa is the
seventh in the world in terms of fair representation of women in the
legislature. However, the figures have stabilised.
The campaign seeks to improve the gains made thus far. Members of
Parliament, members of different political parties and gender activists have
been invited to the media launch of the campaign as follows:
