KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) MEC for Health, Ms Neliswa Peggy Nkonyeni, will celebrate
the Women's Day in Umzumbe
13 August 2007
KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health will host the national Women's Day
celebration at Umzumbe on Saturday, 18 August 2007. Minister of Health, Dr
Manto Tshabalala-Msimang and KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Health Ms Neliswa Nkonyeni,
will share the stage celebrating the achievements and gains for women over the
past 13 years since democracy. They will officially launch the mobile clinics
that are specifically for women's reproductive health. These clinics will also
focus on providing screening services for women and girls. The Minister and MEC
will encourage women to get checked for breast and cervical cancer as these are
also major killers of women in the country.
This year, KZN Department of Health has set the theme: "Investing in women
and children secures a healthy nation," to ensure that women health takes
centre stage in developing a healthy nation. Do your bit, join the Minister and
MEC in the national celebration on Saturday and honour the effort of the
relentless women who pulled all stops to free South Africa from the minority
rule.
