M Stofile on safety of Team South Africa in Algeria

Reaction of Minister of Sport and Recreation South Africa on
the safety of Team South Africa in Algeria

Algiers, Algeria: South Africa's Sport and Recreation Minister, Makhenkesi
Stofile, who is in Algiers for the 9th All Africa Games (AAG), wishes to assure
families of the athletes and officials representing South Africa at the games
that the bomb attack that took place on Wednesday in Algeria, did not affect
Team South Africa in any way. Rev Stofile has been in Algiers since Monday this
week.

Reports from the South African Embassy in Algeria are that the bomb attack
took place about 120 km away from Algiers, where Team South Africa is
based.

On Wednesday evening, Team South Africa participated in the opening ceremony
of the AAG and have already won a number of medals for South Africa. In support
of Team South Africa, Rev Stofile also attended the opening ceremony on
Wednesday.
