media on the implementation of the International Year of African Football and
the African Legacy Programme

Sport and Recreation Minister, Rev Makhenkesi Stofile and H E Advocate
Bience Gawanas, African Union (AU) Commissioner for Social Affairs cordially
invite members of the media to a briefing on the implementation of the
International Year of African Football and the African Legacy Programme. This
is a partnership between the South African government, the AU Commission and
the 2010 FIFA World Cup Local Organising Committee.

The briefing follows a two-day workshop (Tuesday, 6 March to Wednesday, 7
March 2007) on the planning of activities for the International Year of African
Football and the 2010 World Cup African Legacy Programme and will serve as a
platform to outline the workshop's recommendations and a programme of action.
The workshop is attended by among others, senior government officials,
representatives from the AU and various countries across the continent.

The briefing will be held as follows:
