Premier Mbhazima Shilowa will be a guest speaker at an event on Thursday, 31
August 2006 to announce the arrival of the Lion King theatrical production in
South Africa.
The Lion King is an award-winning Disney theatrical production that has
achieved unprecedented success globally and is based on the acclaimed movie.
The South African production of the Lion King will be launched in March 2007 at
the Monte Casino theatre in Johannesburg where it will be staged for 52
weeks.
The launch of this production in Gauteng is in line with the province's
Creative Industries Strategy unveiled earlier this year by the Gauteng
Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation and will contribute to and
strengthen Gauteng's position as the centre of creative industries.
