Week
17 July 2007
Service delivery will come under the spotlight next week when Gauteng
Premier Mbhazima Shilowa launches Gauteng Public Service Week on Monday 23 July
2007.
Now in its third year, the provincial Public Service Week is a result of
Premier Mbhazima Shilowa's commitment to improve service delivery and drive
government's Batho Pele revitalisation campaign in Gauteng.
Monday's event also marks the launch of the Gauteng government's Service
Charter, which sets out service standards that Gauteng residents should expect
from the provincial government. It also provides information on feedback and
complaints systems.
A variety of events are planned for the week, when public servants in the
Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) will rededicate themselves to further
improve service delivery and implement the Batho Pele principles.
Batho Pele seeks to ensure that public service attitudes, systems and
procedures are reoriented in favour of citizen-centred service delivery. This
is in line with the provincial government's commitment to build an accountable,
effective and caring government.
The following activities are planned for the week of 23 to 27 July 2007:
