Premier Mbhazima Shilowa will deliver his annual State of the Province
address on Monday 19 February 2007 when he opens the Gauteng legislature.
His speech will take stock of the Gauteng Provincial Government's (GPG's)
progress in fulfilling the mandate received from the people of Gauteng in 2004
to create work and fight poverty and in implementing the GPG five year
strategic programme. He will also outline the Gauteng government's key
priorities and programme for 2007.
Among the key issues expected to be addressed are the fight against poverty,
boosting shared economic growth, housing, health, transport, education and
social delivery as well as improving the lives of women, youth, children and
people with disability.
Due to limited space, members of the media are requested to apply for
accreditation by 15 February 2007.
