communities fight poverty - MEC Nkoana-Mashabane
25 July 2006
Limpopo's Local Government and Housing MEC, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, will
this week kick off the province's Free Basic Services (FBS) campaign. The
programme aims to encourage poor communities to make use of freely-offered
services such as water and electricity.
Nearly two hundred thousand households in the province qualify to benefit
from the Free Basic Services Programme. The MEC will handover tokens to
identified households in the province's five district municipalities. The FBS
campaign will increase awareness among poor communities to register and collect
their free tokens at local municipalities. The campaign will increase the
turnout of the number of households collecting free tokens.
