One of the major principles of Batho Pele is for people to have equal access
to services that government renders to all its citizens. As a custodian of
service delivery together with municipalities and also to provide shelter, the
MEC for Local Government and Housing, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, will be launching
a the department's Housing Consumer Call Centre toll free Number 0800 687 432,
which will serve as a one-stop-shop "for all housing enquiries for the citizen
of Limpopo."
This is a major milestone as the Department of Local Government and Housing
becomes the first department in the province to have a call centre of this
nature.
To ensure that our provincial housing backlog is addressed, the department
has come up with a turnaround strategy which incorporates the critical element
of interaction with beneficiaries and would be-beneficiaries.
The call centre goes a long way in ensuring that we adhere to the principles
of ensuring that the disadvantaged and the down trodden should have a way to
interact with us as part of building partnership with communities for better
quality in the delivery of services.
In welcoming this development, MEC Mme Maite Nkoana-Mashabane said, "We urge
all the citizens of Limpopo to make use of this toll free number. 0800
NTSHEBELE is a tool to be used for any housing related queries. We encourage
our people to report anything from illegal occupation of Reconstruction and
Development Programme (RDP) houses to corruption. Let us all make that call and
help in the eradication of poverty and underdevelopment."
