KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Agriculture and Environmental Affairs Mtholephi
Mthimkhulu (MPL) today (Tuesday, 24 July) has called on all the people of
KwaZulu-Natal particularly the farming and communal communities to heed the
warning of the fire danger index.
Mthimkhulu was responding to the fire danger index warning issued by the
South African Weather Service of a very high fire danger index for Tuesday.
MEC Mthimkhulu said people should be very cautious when handling fire even
if it is in a controlled manner.
"The SA Weather Service fire danger index alert should be heeded
particularly in the wake of the devastating runaway fires that left a trail of
destruction in the Midlands area of our province," said MEC Mthimkhulu.
