Johannesburg: Mpumi Mpofu, Director-General for the Department of Transport
will deliver a keynote address at the Africa Rail Conference 2007 to be held at
the Sandton Convention Centre.

The Conference, under the theme "The challenges of implementing policy?"
will run parallel sessions zooming in on all modes and disciplines in
transportation.

Topics such as the practical implications of enhanced intermodal
capabilities, the concept of concessioning and improving operational efficiency
will be deliberated upon in detail during the four -day gathering. Investment
and funding for successful commercialisation of railways in Africa are key
additions to the agenda.

The Conference brings together government, parastatals, the private sector,
educational institutions and specialists from across the continent. A huge
exhibition will form part of the Conference, featuring time immemorial displays
of rail artefacts together with the latest in rail technology and
advancement.
