Home Affairs Minister, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula will spend the day with the
elderly and children in homes in Germiston on Thursday, 6 December 2007 as part
of events for the 16 Days of Activism.
In the morning the Minister will interact with the elderly in order to
understand for herself the challenges they face in accessing Home Affairs
services. She will then visit children at the Epsworth Children's Home as part
of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Child Abuse
campaign.
The Minister will then take part in an Imbizo which will include the general
public. Home Affairs services such as applications for identity documents,
passports, and birth and death certificates as well as applications for social
grants will be available.
The Minister will be accompanied by Ekurhuleni Executive Mayor, Mr Duma
Nkosi and senior officials from the Department.
