of self proclaimed chief at Kamajika
27 July 2007
The Mpumalanga Department of Local Government and Housing is urging all
community members of the Nkambeni Tribal Authority not to attend an
inauguration of self proclaimed Inkosi Ephraim B Mhaule as planned for 28 July
2007. The Kabokweni Magistrate's Court near White River has issued a court
order barring Mhaule's inauguration as planned for this Saturday.
It has been established that Ephraim Mhaule is the illegitimate Inkosi for
the Sand River (KaMajika) area. The issuing of the interdict follows sworn
statements in an affidavit by the first applicant Dokotela Mhaule, which he
made with the court. Victor Mhaule contends that he is the rightful Inkosi of
the Nkambeni Tribal Authority following the death of his father in 2004.
After the death of Inkosi Mhaule the Tribal Authority recommended second
respondent, Victor Mhaule to succeed the late. The recommendations were
endorsed by the Chairperson of the House of Traditional Leaders in Mpumalanga,
Inkosi Mzingeli Mthethwa. The court order interdicts or bares the Nkambeni
Tribal Authority and Ephraim B Mhaule from proceeding with his planned
inauguration as the legitimate Inkosi.
The court has also communicated with the police to discourage the planned
activity. All members of the traditional community of Enkambeni residing at
Sand River (KaMajika) are urged not to attend the said unlawful
inauguration.
