Clients of the Department of Labour in the Eastern Cape will be presented
with an opportunity to learn more around issues pertaining to the Unemployment
Insurance Fund (UIF) when the popular community outreach programme hits the
province this coming weekend.
Departmental Spokesperson said the programme, which afforded clients an
opportunity to interact with officials at no cost, formed part of the
departmentâs overall strategy of public awareness and education to increase
awareness around the services and offerings of the UIF.
âWe are trying to deal with perceptions that one can receive UIF monies
infinitively. We also turn down thousands of applications for UIF benefits
every month because of a lack of understanding by our clients of the
requirements and operations of the Fund,â he said.
