Labour on Employment Equity online reporting

Employment Equity Online-Reporting Final Countdown

1 October 2007

The Department of Labour has reminded all large employers to submit their
Employment Equity Reports on-line - just a few hours ahead of the crucial
October 1 deadline.

The reminder is a follow up to employment equity road shows that were
recently conducted countrywide. Large employers are those who employ 150 or
more.

Zolisa Sigabi, Departmental Spokesperson said "We thank employers who have
already responded to our call to submit their reports early to avoid the
last-minute rush that is so often the case."

"Reporting at the eleventh hour often doesn't allow one enough time to
correct mistakes that could be in the report," she said.

She said it was in companies' interest to submit employment equity reports.
The Minister of Labour would like to see all companies, especially those listed
on the Johannesburg Securities Exchange (JSE), appear in the public
register.  This is a list of all employers who have submitted their EE
reports to the Minister. It is published in the government gazette.
