affordable housing development

Housing Minister Lindiwe Sisulu in partnership with Communicare, a
development company, will launch the Aliwal Gardens affordable housing project
in Ruyterwacht, Cape Town to afford families an opportunity to live in a better
environment, closer to socio-economic amenities.
The Aliwal Gardens Development is fundamental to the planned regeneration
programme for Ruyterwacht by Communicare in order to upgrade the area through
new developments to create an environment that promotes social integration and
fosters family and community development.
The Development offers subsidised rental accommodation to families with a
combined income from R5 000 to R7 000 per month, and the sales component is
specifically targeted at first time home owners.
NB: Members of the media are invited to attend the function and a media
briefing at the end of the official ceremony.
